DETOX AND REJUVENATE WITH ACUPUNCTURE
Acupuncture therapy is an ancient Chinese technique that can solve many common aches and pains of the body. It is increasingly becoming popular in the West, to relieve the body, increase overall wellness, and reduce stress. You will find acupuncture clinics all over major cities and urban settings.
What does Acupuncture involve?
Acupuncture involves the insertion of very thin needles in your skin at specific parts of your body. Acupuncture points for weight loss are also a service that removes toxins from the body.
The practice is a part of traditional Chinese medicine and is known for balancing the flow of energy or life force — known as chi or qi (chee).
The flow of energy is believed to flow through a vast network of pathways in your body.
By inserting needles into specific points along these pathways, those who practice acupuncture believe energy flow will re-balance, and whatever is disrupting the normal flow of energy will be eliminated.
Those practising Western medicine believe acupuncture actually stimulates the nerves, which may wake up the body's natural mechanism for repairing itself.
Acupuncture benefits:
Acupuncture can be used to relieve discomfort related to a number of ailments including:
· Restore balance and vitality in your body
· Reduce inflammation in the body
· Relieve headaches and migraine
· Prenatal ailments from sciatica to other nerve pain
· Back and neck pain
· Osteoarthritis
· Menstrual cramps
· Respiratory disorders, such as allergic rhinitis
· Improved detoxification
· Relieve stress
· Stop insomnia.
What Does it Feel Like?
Acupuncture is performed using hair-thin needles. Most people feel a minimal amount of pain, more a pricking sensation as the needle is inserted.
Once the needle is inserted, most do not feel anything. Depending on the practitioner, needles may be heated, or mild electric current may be applied to them.
If the needle is not placed properly, it’s likely that you may feel discomfort or pain.
It’s important to make sure you receive treatment from a qualified acupuncture practitioner.
The FDA regulates acupuncture needles under its standards of sterility. The needles must be sterilized to prevent infection.
What should you look for before trying acupuncture?
The practise of acupuncture is not fully recognized by Western medicine, and before trying it, there are several considerations you should keep in mind/
Talk to your doctor before trying acupuncture and see if they recommend it for your particular ailment.
Review all medicines, prescription and over-the-counter that you are taking with your practitioner.
Find a licensed acupuncture practitioner and look for a referral.
Not all states require acupuncturists to obtain a license to practice. Although not all certified acupuncturists are doctors, the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture can provide a referral list of doctors who practise acupuncture.
Some insurers cover the cost of acupuncture while others do not. Find out if acupuncture is covered by your insurance before starting treatment.
