BEST STRESS RELIEF TECHNIQUES

Stress relief and relaxation are two very important components to healthy lifestyle management and are especially imperative in the fast-paced society in which we live.
You could encounter small daily stresses such as being late for work, being stuck in traffic, or larger sources of stress such as your career, a relationship, your children, or the illness of a loved one. No matter how small or large your stressors, your body has a way of dealing with it, which is commonly known as a “stress response.”

Your heart may seem to beat faster, your palms may sweat, and you may feel anxious and unsure of what to tackle first. The reality is there’s no way to avoid these stresses unless you resign from everything and escape to the Himalayas! But, even there, you would encounter the stress of another kind.

Therefore, it’s a better idea to take a step back and assess the situation so that you can find healthier ways to deal with the stress that you face. Stress relief activities like meditation and yoga would help in multiple ways.

Here are a few suggestions for reducing stress in your daily life:

Practice Meditation:
It is a powerful technique using only your breath. This is the perfect way to de-stress. Breathing exercises for stress calm you down. As you focus on your breath, whatever is stressing you out that very moment should slowly fade away into the distance. This may not happen right away, so don’t be discouraged. It may be hard to focus on your breath at first, so try to sit in meditation for a short period initially. The more you practice, the easier it will become.

Take a Relaxing Bath:
Simple, right? But how many times have you sat in a bathtub this past year? Taking a bath is a great way to soothe your muscles and relax your senses with soothing bath oils and aromatherapy. Take this time to practice “imagery.” All you have to do is close your eyes and imagine you are at your favourite place: You could be on a tropical island, a warm beach with waves crashing on the shore, or in a tranquil forest, with birds peacefully chirping in the distance. Your stress with slowly dissipate.

Practice Yoga:
This ancient art form not only increases your flexibility and stamina, but it’s also a powerful tool that can help you control your stress levels and keep the natural stress response at bay. The beauty of yoga is you can practice it to the extent that your body allows. If a pose is too intense for you, by all means, modify the posture and do what’s best for you. There’s no competition in any yoga practice. As with any form of exercise, consult your doctor before starting a new regime.
